A recent study published by researchers from the 4D PICTURE projectYeray Sañudo, Canan Akoglu, Judith Rietjens, Dirk Snelders, Anne M. Stiggelbout, and Jorge Sierra-Pérez – examines how design methodologies can improve shared decision-making (SDM) processes within healthcare services.

The research highlights the varying levels of involvement among patients and healthcare professionals, identifies key challenges in service analysis, and evaluates the impact of proposed solutions on different stakeholders. The findings indicate that while further studies are needed, integrating design methodologies into SDM processes has the potential to create more patient-centered care and improve overall health outcomes.

This study is part of the 4D PICTURE project, which supports cancer patients, their families, and healthcare providers in making well-informed treatment and care decisions at every stage of the disease. By utilizing comprehensive European data, the project aims to enhance the cancer patient journey and ensure that personal preferences are respected throughout the decision-making process.
